A beautiful home with a wonderful history! This home was perfect for our family over Thanksgiving. Our girls really enjoyed playing in the yard and the stream. Great location, close to everything, but still private. We absolutely loved spending time on the porch. Jim and Pam are wonderful hosts and they have put a lot of love and thought into their home. It was very clean and included everything we needed. We are so thankful for our relaxing week and look forward to coming back soon.

The Old Campbell Farm is a comfortable, clean, historic, and convenient place to stay just outside the bustle of downtown Franklin. Jim and Pam were great hosts who were easy to communicate with. I'd definitely stay there again.
Ashley - October 2020 (Airbnb)
Jim and Pam's place is amazing! Like a home away from home! They are gracious hosts and met us upon arrival to show us around even though it was late! Would love to come back!
Lisa - September 2020 (Airbnb)
We had the most wonderful stay at the Old Campbell Farm. It was impeccably clean and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. The screened porch with rocking chairs was my favorite spot. Beautiful house and grounds. We can’t wait to come back soon.

Our stay at the Old Campbell Farm was ideal. Perfectly clean, with character galore, yet modern amenities throughout the house. Our four kids enjoyed the large yard to play ball and the tiny creek to dip their toes into. Every message I sent to Jim and Pam was answered immediately. A binder full of tips and trips for the area was very helpful. Thank you, Jim and Pam!
James - July 2020 (Airbnb)
The house itself is very comfortable and a joy to return to at the end of a long day of local adventures, but the gardens and grounds that it sits in are what makes this place extremely special. It really is a little slice of paradise - from playing games in the garden, to our children playing in the stream at the bottom, to the evening mugs of cocoa on the verandah watching the fireflies...we will forever have fond memories of our time here (and will be hoping that one day we might return!). Cannot recommend it highly enough (nor the local area, which has so many options for adventures).
Emily - June 2020 (Airbnb)
Perfect getaway for our family with young kids! Spotless home so beautifully restored! We especially enjoyed playing in the little creek and big yard, comfy beds, and screen porch to watch the lightening bugs and hear the creek and birds, well stocked kitchen (and extra linens and fluffy towels!), and serene country setting. Pam and Jim are incredible hosts--some of the best Airbnb hosts we've been had! Perfect spot for making memories!

Wonderful stay. Great amenities and very comfortable house. Easy to find and wonderful hosts. They fixed my scheduling error and were always at hand to help. We’ll be back!

Nestled in Iotla Valley in western North Carolina only five (5) miles from the town of Franklin, The Old Campbell Farm beckons vacationers to relax in this beautifully restored vacation rental home built in the late 1800's, sit a spell, relax, catch some fireflies in the meadow, and relish time around the table with friends and family after enjoying the many attractions of western North Carolina.
A little bit of history: On November 14, 1867 Joseph Stephens Campbell (1839-1915) married Mary Elizabeth Bird (1851-1907). Around 1884, Joseph and Mary Elizabeth built the one-room log cabin on the land that we now call The Old Campbell Farm. Their two daughters were Margaret Elizabeth and Fannie Isabelle. Fannie and her husband Jess Tallent went on to raise 5 children in the one-room log cabin. Margaret Elizabeth married Nathan Andrew Allman, and they moved to Georgia. We have the pleasure of personally knowing many of Fannie's descendants. Although genealogy is not our forte, as time goes by, it is such fun to connect with descendants of Margaret Elizabeth!
Restoration and renovation officially began on January 4, 2012. Just as the seasons progressed from winter through spring and summer to autumn, improvements to both the interior and the exterior of the log cabin and farmhouse progressed. Surprises? Yes, there were several surprises along the way! But, thanks to the extensive knowledge, skill set, and hard work of our one-man crew and to Jim's woodworking talents, the transformations were amazing. The log cabin's rustic exterior now shelters a comfortable and well-appointed interior designed to suit the needs of modern travelers.
Whether you stay for a weekend, a week, or a month, The Old Campbell Farm can be your vacation home base while you explore everything from Dollywood in nearby Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina. There is never a shortage of things to do nearby! Our guests enjoy hiking in the Smokies, bicycle riding on marked trails and paved routes, motorcycle riding on challenging mountain roads, fishing, antiquing, horseback riding, zipping along a canopy tour, viewing waterfalls, golfing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, sightseeing, and strolling along the country lane or the woodlands road, just to mention a few possibilities. After dinner (or supper, as we say in the mountains) sit on the screened porch or take a walk in the meadow to catch the last light of day and perhaps a glimpse of a doe and her fawn.
With four-season truly easy access and fantastic views of the mountains surrounding Iotla Valley, The Old Campbell Farm provides impeccably clean and fresh furnishings, linens, kitchen, and more. Does your schedule include some vacation time? We welcome you to book your next vacation getaway with us!
